Blanket Flower Arizona Red Shades (Gaillardia) | Two Live Plants | Non-GMO, Hardy Flowering Perennial

$ 24.97

This brightly colored, flowering perennial is a cottage and French garden favorite. This variety or Gaillardia, Arizona Red Shade, has bright red petals, faintly tipped in yellow and orange with a large, yellow seedhead. Truly stunning in any garden and a gorgeous, long-lasting cut flower with sturdy stems. Blanket Flower blooms all summer and will attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Plant grows in a compact mound that gets to about 24” wide and tall and makes a great addition to foundation plantings and smaller gardens.

Blanket Flower plants prefer full sun to partial shade; well-drained, loamy soil; and will bloom from mid-summer to first frost. Deadheading encourages more flower growth. This plant is a hardy perennial in zones 3 and warmer. If planting in containers, roots must be protected from freezing temperatures.

I'm now sitting with a dead plant!!! When I received the 2 plants they were out of their pots with the root balls exposed and dry dirt was everywhere! What a mess!! The plants suffered quite a hit & the plant that is now dead was a fragile plant to begin with and should have never been chosen for such a journey. I have pictures of them in transition. I'm babying the remaining plant in hopes that it will live, but day to day it is doubtful. I will never do this again! I'm an 84 yr old perennial gardener on social security who treated herself to these two plants and can't afford to throw $40 to the wind. I'm not new to all of this & have ordered plants in years past from others, but the packing on the plants was very different. On top of each pot they had placed a light weight cardboard which was cut to fit the plant & the top of the pot, then taped down to the pot. They then put the pot in a plastic bag which surrounded just the pot to seal the moisture in. (Since they gave them a drink before their trip) The 12 fever few were all in perfect shape when I opened the box, dirt & root ball in tact. The second gaillardia is struggling & I'm afraid to plant it outside. As mentioned above, I'm never doing this again as it is too much of a chance to take. I've reached out on the issue & was told to send a picture in a week. I did that & received a response stating "out of the office till Sept 7." Then why ask for a picture in a week when you knew you'd be on vacation? I'm hoping for contact on Sept 8th. I'm sure the right thing will be done. Plant folks are special!!!
